“Therapy can help you to understand your thoughts and feelings, and to develop healthier ways of coping with them.”
Counselling and psychotherapy in Mayo and Online
I offer an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy, which means I adapt my methods to suit you and what you're facing right now.
At the core of every session, I use empathy, unconditional positive regard and genuine connection. This means you're met with warmth and acceptance, never judgement. You're the expert on your own life, and I'm here to support you in finding your own answers.
Sometimes it helps to explore patterns from the past or examine the thoughts shaping your present. I draw on these approaches when they're useful, offering insight and practical strategies to help you move forward.
For some people, words aren't enough. Creative methods like pyrography, drawing and art-making can help externalise what feels stuck inside, opening new pathways for self-discovery and emotional expression.
Sessions are 60 minutes long and available both in person at my practice in Foxford, Co. Mayo, and online for clients across Ireland and further afield. In-person sessions offer the comfort of a dedicated, confidential space where you can feel safe and supported. Online sessions provide flexibility, allowing you to access therapy from wherever feels most comfortable for you.
When working with adolescents, I typically invite the parent or parents into the room for the first 10 minutes of the first session, to ease any uncertainty for both parties, and then work one-to-one with the young person for the remainder of the sessions, with parental follow-ups if necessary. This approach respects the confidentiality of the young person, whilst keeping parents included, and provides a safe place for the young person to share their issues in a secure setting.

If you're an adult looking for counselling in Mayo, I work in person and online with a wide range of concerns including, but not limited to:

Creative therapy in Mayo can be particularly valuable for those who find it hard to put feelings into words, offering a gentler, more exploratory route to healing.
